We raise more than £700 from seasonal activities for children in hospital

We have raised more than £700 for children in hospital with a range of seasonal fundraising activities.

Members of our team raised a total of £745.32 for the Polly Parrot Appeal for children’s services at Basildon and Thurrock Hospitals.

They raised the sum from collections at the firm’s annual Christmas carol concert and the Rayleigh Christmas light switch-on, both of which they divided equally between the Polly Parrot Appeal and Rayleigh Town Museum, as well as a Christmas Wear Anything Day.

The Polly Parrot Appeal will now use the funds to buy a special toy car for children at Basildon Hospital to ride in when going from the ward to the operating theatre. This will be third such car for the hospital, with the other two having proved very popular with young patients.

Kimberley Portas and Holly Lambert from Palmers Solicitors visited Polly’s Pad at Basildon Hospital on Monday 17 December 2018 to present a cheque from the firm.

Carey Jacobs, a Partner, said: “As a firm, we are committed to making a difference to our local area, whether by offering first-rate legal services to local people and businesses or by raising funds for local charities.

“We have been raising funds for the Polly Parrot Appeal throughout 2018 with a series of activities and it is wonderful that we have been able to raise so much from the seasonal events we have held in recent weeks.

“It is fantastic to know that these generous donations from our clients, contacts and staff will, every day, help ease children’s stress at going for an operation at Basildon Hospital.”
