We have raised more than £2,000 to help ‘Give a Gift’ to children in care this Christmas.
The funds raised will be used to buy stars from Thurrock Council’s Christmas tree located at Intu Lakeside shopping centre. Each star costs £15 and represents a child in care. We raised enough money for 143 stars, each of which will help ensure a child receives a present this Christmas.
Professionals from our Thurrock office raised a total of £2,145.
The fundraising was driven by family law adviser Kim Mansfield and the family team at the Thurrock branch, who reached this amazing contribution by holding a raffle of prizes generously donated by the local business community.
The prizes included a 32” smart television donated by Thomas Marsh estate agents, an Amazon kindle donated by A J Life and a coffee machine donated by RDG Builders, to name just a few. The rewards on offer attracted the purchase of several thousand raffle tickets leading up to the draw on the 5th December 2018.
The Thurrock team also invited clients, contacts and colleagues to join them for a mince pie on Wednesday 5 December 2018 to celebrate and participate in the raffle draw.
Surjit Verdi, Palmers’ Family Law partner, based at the Thurrock office, said: “We are all delighted and very proud that our colleagues at our Thurrock office have been able to raise such a good sum for a deserving cause.
“I’d like to sincerely thank all the businesses who donated raffle prizes and our clients and contacts for their kindness. Kim and the team’s sheer hard work and perseverance, and the unstinting generosity of the local business community, our clients and contacts, will make a real difference to children in the local area this Christmas.
“At Palmers, we are committed to supporting our clients and local communities and what better way to do so than by raising funds to give presents to local children who are spending this Christmas in care?”
As well as raising funds for ‘Give a Gift’ this Christmas, Palmers Solicitors is also raising funds for the Polly Parrott Appeal for the children’s services at Basildon and Thurrock Hospitals with a collection at its annual carol service on Tuesday 11 December 2018.
