The British motorist faces an increasingly hostile environment. The ubiquitous speed camera, in particular, has caused a significant increase in the number of motorists receiving endorsements on their driving licences, some facing disqualification as a result, with consequent loss of livelihood, home or even marriage.
Even the safest and most conscientious of motorists may find himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, be involved in an incident, not necessarily of his own making, and find himself investigated and prosecuted by the police.
Our Road Traffic Department is headed by Jeremy Sirrell, a solicitor with exceptionally wide-ranging experience in prosecution and defence roles and in advising the Magistrates Court itself.
Our services include:
- Initial advice concerning your position at law and generally
- Attendance at the police station or elsewhere
- Representation in court.
- Appeals against conviction and/or sentence
We deal with all motoring and other road traffic offences, including:
- Excess speed
- Driving without due care and attention
- Driving with excess alcohol
- Failing to stop after an accident
- Failing to report an accident.
We are also able to advise businesses, including road haulage companies, about offences relating specifically to commercial vehicles, including those relating to:
- Excess weight
- Tachographs
- Drivers’ hours of work
- Operator’s Licences
Although legal aid is rarely available for road traffic offences, we can offer in appropriate cases a fixed fee facility, providing up to 30 minutes advice on law and practice as it relates to the motoring client.
