Book your place at our FREE landlords’ seminar today!

Thursday 2 November 2017

Here at Palmers Solicitors, we have decades of experience of working with landlords from across Essex, so we know it can be a challenge to stay on top of all the legal considerations and tax changes affecting your property portfolio.

This is why we have decided to host a free landlords’ seminar on Thursday 2 November 2017 from 4:30pm to 7pm, at South Woodham Ferrers Council Offices.

Our seminar will feature talks from a hand-picked selection of Palmers’ specialist solicitors as well as external experts on a wide range of relevant topics affecting the buy-to-let sector:

  • Mark Harris, Solicitor, will provide an overview of residential lettings from inception through to collection and, ultimately, possession.
  • Layna Thompson, Associate Solicitor, will discuss landlord targeted fraud, SDLT and mortgage issues.
  • Kathy Peach, Chief Executive of the Citizens Advice Bureau for Basildon and Thurrock, will offer guidance on the replacement of housing benefit with universal credit.
  • Robert Wybrow and Adam Cohen of Maynard Heady LLP Chartered Accountants will discuss the latest taxation legislation affecting landlords.

The seminar will take place on:

Date: Thursday 2 November 2017

Employment Judge Murray

You are summoned to attend the claim hearing at South Woodham Ferrers Town Hall on 16th November 2017 at 4.30pm to witness the above case.

The Hearing

The hearing will take place on 16th November 2017 at South Woodham Ferrers Town Council Offices, 92 Hullbridge Road, South Woodham Ferrers, CM3 5LJ, running from 4.30pm-7pm.

This mock tribunal hearing, organised by Palmers Solicitors, is an ideal introduction to some important aspects of employment law. Afterwards, we invite guests to enjoy drinks and canapes.

If you wish to attend, please RSVP to: no later than Thursday 9th November.

The Claim

At the office, David Went has dismissed the malingering and deceitful Denise Royale for gross misconduct in fiddling her bonus. Denise has cried foul and claims unfair dismissal and sex discrimination. Attempts to settle the claim via the ACAS early conciliation scheme have failed. Settlement offers and counter offers have been rejected. The battle lines are now drawn and the matter proceeds in the Southshire Employment Tribunal.

The highly motivated and ambitious David Went puts his reputation as the forward thrusting manager of Fast Cars showroom Ltd on the block. He intends to defeat Denise’s efforts to secure wholly undeserved compensation. Denise will attempt to convince the learned Judge Murray and her colleagues of the merits of her case. Both parties will be represented by barristers from 3 Paper Buildings.

Summing up

Afterwards, relinquishing the role of Judge Murray, our specialist employment solicitor, Lara Murray will deliver a brief presentation on the key issues at hand and how you can best avoid a costly and unwelcome tribunal claim.
