Now in it’s fourth year, the Brentwood Running Festival comprising of a 2k Junior race, a 10k race, a half marathon and a full marathon continues to grow from strength to strength. What started out as a local event attracting 50 runners in 2008 has grown exponentially in the last three years to a high quality race attracting runners from all across the country.
The promise of some beautiful off road trails in the stunning Weald Park enticed close to 600 runners to hang up their road shoes for the weekend. The course provided a superb mix of challenging hills, picturesque woodland trails and some great competition!
Emily participated in the 10k race on Saturday 29th October and having finished as the third fastest female for the past two consecutive years with times of 53.43 in 2010 and 53.22 in 2009 the pressure was on!!
Emily maintained a good pace throughout the race and finished as fifth fastest female with a much improved time of 51.04, and finished in 29th place overall out of 99 finishers!
The challenge now is to try and get the time under 50 minutes for next year and hopefully re-claim third place!
