A prominent Essex law firm has lent its support to Basildon’s top volunteers by sponsoring a prestigious award.

Palmers Solicitors, which has offices in Basildon, Rayleigh, Thurrock and South Woodham Ferrers sponsored the Voluntary Group of the Year award at the Basildon Council Volunteer Awards on Tuesday 10 October 2017.

The award was presented by Lee McClellan, a Partner at the firm, to the Food Ministry Team at St. Andrew’s and Holy Cross Churches in recognition of their efforts to provide food and company to children and their families, as well as to the elderly and socially isolated and the wider community.

Lee said: “It was a real pleasure to be able to celebrate the difference that volunteers and voluntary organisations make to the local area.

“The Food Ministry Team at St Andrew’s and Holy Cross Churches makes a vital contribution to our community and it was wonderful to be able to present this award to them.

“I was also pleased, as a trustee of Basildon Citizens Advice, to see my fellow trustee and our former chair, Stella Calkin, receive the Lifetime Achievement award in recognition of her volunteer work in various capacities locally for more than 50 years.”

This is the second year that Palmers Solicitors has been a sponsor at the Basildon Council Volunteer Awards.
